Splint provision — the right support for your hand

Individually fitted, professionally advised — we find the right splint for your situation and your goals.

What is splint provision and how does it support hand function?
What is splint provision?

When the hand needs support

An orthopaedic splint in neurological conditions can make the difference between a hand that works and one that stays limited. Splints support weakened muscles, correct positions altered by spasticity and improve everyday function — when they are professionally chosen and fitted.

At HOME4MOTION our specialist occupational therapists and Dr Svehlik advise together: which splint is the right one? When and how should it be worn? How does it combine with therapy? Individual splint provision in Graz as part of a holistic approach.

“A well-fitted splint is not a defeat — it is a tool that lets you do more.”

Who is this therapy for?

Does this sound familiar?

Splints make sense in many neurological conditions — but not every splint suits every person. That is why we always advise individually.

If spasticity after a stroke pulls your hand into a poor position, makes gripping harder or causes pain — a hand splint can correct the position and preserve function.

If weakness or paralysis means your wrist or fingers can no longer be held steady — a positioning or functional splint gives the support needed.

If after cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury or another condition you need orthopaedic provision for your hand — we advise on a sound medical basis and fit it to you.

Frequently asked questions

What you want to know

The key answers at a glance — so you arrive well prepared.

Why would you need an orthosis or splint?▾
A splint supports weakened or paralysed muscles, corrects poor positioning caused by spasticity and improves function in daily life – provided it is professionally selected and fitted. The right splint at the right time can preserve function, ease pain and make everyday activities such as dressing, cooking or writing possible again. At HOME4MOTION our occupational therapists and Dr Švehlík advise together on which splint is right for you.
How long do I have to wear the splint?▾
That depends on your findings and your therapy plan. Some splints are worn only at night, others during the day for particular activities. We discuss this together.
Does health insurance pay for the splint?▾
In many cases splints are reimbursed in part or in full by health insurance. We help you with the application and the documentation.
Can I obtain a splint from abroad?▾
We are glad to advise on where to obtain one. What matters is that the splint is professionally fitted — we do that here in the therapy centre.
